What is ArteFill?
ArteFill is the first and only FDA-approved non-resorbable injectable filler for the correction of wrinkles known as smile lines. ArteFill is a dual-acting injectable wrinkle filler. The secret is in its patented formula, which contains 20% ArteFill Precision-Filtered Microspheres™ (made of PMMA, the same material used for dozens of medical implants over the last 50 years) and 80% ArteFill Purified Bovine Collagen™ gel with lidocaine, an anesthetic. First, ArteFill visibly corrects the wrinkle. Then the microspheres provide the permanent support your skin needs to correct the wrinkle and prevent further wrinkling.
Why ArteFill?
Heredity, natural aging process, UV exposure and repetitive facial movement take their toll on the skin resulting in wrinkles and the skin's loss of ability to repair itself as the underlying elastin and collagen fibers break down and lose elasticity. ArteFill is the first and only FDA-approved non-resorbable wrinkle filler for the correction of smile lines.
With ArteFill, Dr. Ross A. Clevens can skillfully provide immediate, visible results with no down time in a simple office visit. ArteFill provides a gradual wrinkle correction over the course of several months which helps ensure the look you desire.
How Is Artefill® Administered?
After the application of a topical anesthetic, Dr. Ross A. Clevens will gently and accurately inject the area to be treated with Artefill®.
Are Artefill® Injections Painful?
Generally, there is virtually no discomfort at all at the time of the Artefill® treatment.
Are There Side Effects to Artefill?
Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) has been used in medicine and dentistry for over 30 years and has been left in the body in thousands of patients for many years with no allergies or any harmful side effects. The other two parts of the solution have been used for decades with no proof of any health risk. Rarely, as with any filler substance, irregularities have been reported which are normally readily treatable.
Is Allergy Testing Required for Artefill?
Yes. Dr. Ross Clevens values the safety of all his patients and will ensure that you are tested for allergy by a forearm injection and he will wait one month to confirm that you are not allergic to Artefill® .
How Many Times Must I Be Treated?
In Dr. Ross A. Clevens experience, the majority of his patients only need one treatment. Though there are a few patients that may benefit from a second treatment, which can be performed three months after the first treatment.
How is ArteFill different from temporary dermal fillers?
The fact is that all temporary fillers are eventually absorbed by the body and require frequent repeat injections. ArteFill is different. The unique microspheres in ArteFill are not absorbed by the body. These microspheres provide the permanent support your skin needs for long-lasting wrinkle correction. Now, with ArteFill, Dr. Ross A. Clevens can give you the lasting wrinkle correction you want in just one or two treatments. Where the results of temporary fillers end, the long-lasting benefits of ArteFill continue.
