Choosing a Facial Plastic Surgeon

When people come to my office they want to rejuvenate, maintain, and protect what they have. In general people have realistic goals and expectations of what plastic surgery can do for them.

People also set high standards in choosing a surgeon to operate on them. If you are wondering what to look for in your surgeon, the following should help you make a well-informed decision.

Go to a board-certified doctor who has expertise in the particular area you’re unhappy with. Trust your face to a face specialist. Time and again people have expressed to me that they did not want a breast surgeon working on their face. A specialist is trained and knowledgeable about the particular areas he/she specializes in.

Research the doctor’s credentials. Look for physicians who are well-trained and experienced in aesthetic procedures of the face. Credentials provide a certain degree of credibility to a surgeon. Education and positions held within professional associations are valued by many patients and provides a basis for confidence or belief in a surgeon.

Surgeons know that patients have many choices when it comes to aesthetic  enhancements. Surgeons are typically very open about their board-certifications and credentials. If they are not, that should be a warning sign to you.
