Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is among the most popular facial plastic surgery procedures. Every year, over 100,000 men and women choose cosmetic eyelid surgery to improve their appearance.

Droopy upper eyelids and bulging lower eyelid bags form over time.

A change in appearance around the eyes is among the first signs of aging and many people develop some sagginess in their early thirties. Chronic allergies and sinus conditions may cause the eyelids to swell, encouraging the development of a tired or sad facial appearance. In addition, sun exposure, heredity, excessive squinting, habitual eye rubbing, and the use of contact lenses promote sags and bags around the eyes.

In some individuals, may even impair your vision. Patients of The Center for Facial Cosmetic Surgery indicate that their eyes look and feel more rested and youthful after blepharoplasty. Dr. Clevens often performs lower eyelid surgery through a tiny incision made inside of the lower eyelid so there is no external scar. Through the upper eyelid, Dr. Clevens removes excess skin, muscle, and fatty tissue. This brightens your eyes for a fresh new look.

Lower eyelid surgery helps to remove puffiness and bags under the eyes that make you look worn and tired. Although eyelid surgery is often performed on its own, Dr. Clevens may recommend a facelift or skin surfacing procedures to help you achieve the best results.
