“The Hand Lift”

Frequently the focus of cosmetic improvement is the face. Yet, one of the most age-telling body features is our hands. Because the skin on the back of your hands is extremely thin, the loss of fat padding shows as we age. Our hands lose firmness and plumpness and the underlying structures appear and make them look bony and fragile....with tendon, bone and vein protrusion. In addition, sun exposure over the decades sets up a prolonged cascade of liver spots and brown patches that blemish your hand.

Combating the aging hand syndrome takes more than hand cream (though that simple step does make a difference). The latest technology has given us a set of procedures that will have similar effects as those we have been able to accomplish for the face.

“The Hand Lift” is a fast, super simple procedure that literally converts older-looking hands into younger looking hands in minutes. Dr. Clevens achieves complete hand rejuvenation by combining Radiesse with Artisan Skin Resurfacing.

Radiesse injections immediately re-plump and replenish volume to the back of the hands to provide a supple and youthful appearance instantly. Placed beneath the skin, Radiesse raises the skin level so that tendons, joints and veins lose their prominence. Radiesse provides instant and durable long lasting results.

Artisan Laser is used to diminish the appearance of brown spots and pigmentation. This laser seeks out darker pigment with a single, painless treatment. Within 7-10 days the brown spots slough off and you are left with more youthful appearing hands.

The Process

• Volume Replenishment - Typical requirement is approximately 1 Radiesse syringe per hand to attain a full smooth replacement of the cushioning on the back of the hands. In some instances an extra syringe is required (total 3) if your hands have lost a substantial amount of their natural fat layer or have a very prominent bony appearance. Men may require up to 2 syringes if their hands are large.
• Brown Spot Removal - Patients are treated with the Artisan Laser to remove pigment. Often times, more than one treatment is required to remove decades of sun damage.
• Home Care Maintenance - Patients are encouraged to protect and maintain their results with a medical grade skin care routine at home. Using a skin care routine that includes retin A and an exfoliant will keep hangs looking soft, subtle and youthful. Your hands will also need to be protected from future sun damage (the main culprit in all unwanted pigmentation) by regular use of sun protection. Persistent use of sunscreen is a necessary step, no matter what cosmetic procedure you choose.
