New Face with Portrait Skin Resurfacing

As Portrait Plasma Skin Resurfacing continues to gain in popularity I thought it best to mention that I have been utilizing the skin treatment in my practice for many years now. What impresses me about the product and the company is that they did clinical trials for three years prior to launching the product. They currently are cleared by the FDA and more than 30 completed and ongoing clinical studies under their belt.

Here I will address the most common questions about Portrait Plasma Skin Resurfacing.

  • What is Portrait Plasma Skin Resurfacing used to treat?

Portrait is unique in that it is completely different than an ablative laser, yet has similar or even better results. It can treat many conditions simultaneously, including deep wrinkles, fine lines, sagging skin, tone and texture and pigmentation. Most other treatments only focus on a single skin issue at a time.

  • What does the 'Plasma' do in the Portrait Skin Resurfacing?

Plasma is highly energized gas and is a common form of matter. Energy sources such as the sun are made of plasma. With Portrait, the power of plasma has been harnessed and delivers its thermal energy deep into the layers of the skin. The results are amazing.

  • How does it work?

Damaged, scarred, aged, and wrinkled layers of skin are removed and new collagen is stimulated to grow and replace the old skin tissue. This improves skin laxity and texture, as well as improves any discoloration you had prior to the skin treatment. And, best of all, it does all of this without surgery. A topical anesthetic is typically applied to minimize any discomfort.

  • How many treatments will I need?

For the highest energy level, you only need one treatment and there is about one week of recovery time. Patient will experience redness similar to a sun burn which will bronze and peel revealing dramatic results. The lower energy procedure requires multiple visits but the recovery time is greatly reduced. While it takes longer, they will get marked improvement.

  • What can I expect after this procedure?

After your Portrait Plasma procedure, your skin will show dramatic improvement in seven to ten days. The tone and texture of your skin will show in reduced wrinkles at lower levels of treatment. At higher levels of treatment, deep wrinkles, overall tightening, and other aspects will show vast improvement. Continual improvement of your skin may continue for some time. Because of the changes made are done beyond the surface of the skin, the new collagen will continue to show where improvements have been made.

  • Who is a candidate for Portrait Plasma Skin Resurfacing?

*Those seeking a clearer and cleaner complexion that will minimize enlarged pores
* Those with sun-damaged skin looking to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, tighten lax skin, and improve skin texture and tone
* Those considering chemical peels, laser surgery, a facelift, or other cosmetic surgical procedures
* Those who wish to repair photodamage or improve the appearance of age spots
