A highly trained surgeon with a passion for helping patients look and feel their best, Deric Thomson, MD is completing an advanced yearlong fellowship in facial plastic surgery under the mentorship of Ross A. Clevens, MD, FACS and Phillip Barbee, MD. Dr. Thomson has specialized expertise in both cosmetic and reconstructive facial procedures, and he is deeply involved in guiding patients through every stage of their surgical journey, from pre-operative preparation to post-operative recovery. His clinical interests include aesthetic facial plastic surgery, advanced skin and laser treatments, and comprehensive skin cancer care—ranging from diagnosis to treatment and facial reconstruction following Mohs surgery.

Known for his approachable manner and meticulous technique, Dr. Thomson is committed to truly listening to each patient’s goals, then crafting a personalized treatment plan that delivers natural-looking, confidence-boosting results.

Dr. Thomson is a board-eligible facial surgeon with unique dual training in both medicine and dentistry, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of the facial structures and soft tissues. He holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Florida and a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from Augusta University, where he earned multiple academic and teaching accolades.

Following medical school, Dr. Thomson completed a general surgery internship and a demanding six-year residency in Maxillofacial Surgery at UF Health Jacksonville—recognized as one of the nation’s leading programs. His training emphasized head and neck surgery and included rotations at the Mayo Clinic Jacksonville and Wolfson Children’s Hospital. He gained extensive experience in complex craniomaxillofacial reconstruction, facial trauma, pediatric craniofacial surgery, head and neck oncologic and reconstructive surgery, TMJ and orthognathic surgery, as well as advanced cosmetic and reconstructive facial plastic surgery.

Outside of his practice, Dr. Thomson enjoys the outdoors—whether it’s playing golf, pickleball, working in the yard or fishing inshore and offshore. He especially cherishes time spent with his wife and two daughters.
