Are Lip Fillers Right for Me?

You might be a candidate for nonsurgical lip fillers in Merritt Island & Melbourne FL with our team if you have always wanted to enhance your lips so they appear fuller, without any surgical procedure or extensive downtime. Lip augmentation using dermal fillers also can improve the symmetry of your lips for a more balanced appearance whether you are smiling or your face is at rest.

To achieve a more youthful appearance, our lip filler experts also use cosmetic injectables to diminish lines and wrinkles around the mouth, while plumping and restoring fullness to lips that have become thinner over time. Lip fillers are the ideal nonsurgical solution for patients who have noticed their lips are thinning due to aging, smoking, or genetics.

The Benefits of Lip Filler Treatments

Lip enhancement using fillers like Juvéderm, Volbella, or Restylane Kysse has many benefits for patients:

  • You can achieve fuller, more youthful lips.
  • The volume of your lips can be restored for a more voluptuous look.
  • While our specialists are plumping your lips, they can also address lines and wrinkles around the mouth or correct asymmetry at the same time.
  • The procedure is performed in our Melbourne and Merritt Island, Florida offices and takes just minutes.
  • Results are immediate!
  • You can even reapply makeup and lipstick right after having their procedure.

Preparing for Your Lip Filler Procedure

Achieving your ideal results with a lip filler treatment begins with the conversation you’ll have with one of our master injectors during your cosmetic consultation. Be sure you have a clear goal in mind, and it can even help to share any photos of celebrities whose lips you find attractive with your provider if you’re looking for a similar result.

If you are having a lip filler treatment for the first time, your provider can take a more conservative approach, adding the product a little at a time so you can see your results and enjoy increased control over your final outcome.

Many patients are concerned about having a natural look after their lip filler treatment. An experienced Facial Plastic Surgeon with extensive knowledge of facial anatomy, like Dr. Clevens or Dr. Barbee, can help you enhance your lips with fillers while still achieving a natural-looking appearance.

Your Lip Filler Treatment

The procedure itself takes just minutes to perform. Some injectors, such as our Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon Phillip Barbee, MD, use a cannula during a lip filler treatment. This technique helps to minimize discomfort during the procedure and reduces the presence of bruising afterward.

Our Master Injectors perform lip filler treatments right here, in our relaxing office environment. Lip fillers are typically made with hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in our bodies. At our practice in Brevard County, Fla., we use only FDA-approved products that are proven safe and effective for lip augmentation, including:

  • Juvederm Ultra XC
  • Juvederm Volbella
  • Restylane Silk
  • Restylane Kysse

Recovery After Receiving Lip Fillers

After your lip filler treatment, you may experience some mild swelling or bruising, but you will have no further restrictions and can resume your ordinary activities immediately, with no downtime. While bruising and swelling are normal following this treatment, these effects will typically subside in a few days. Less common side effects include redness, mild discomfort, lumps, and itching.

We’ll provide you with an ice pack to help soothe the treatment area. At our practice, it’s customary for us to meet with patients in a follow-up appointment about two weeks after your lip filler treatment to make sure you are completely happy with your results and to perform any enhancements that may be needed.

How much do lip fillers cost?

The cost of lip fillers will vary based on the education, training, and experience of your provider, as well as the amount of filler used during your treatment. We offer complimentary consultations for patients to learn more, and will provide you with a quote based on your customized treatment plan. Generally, most lip fillers are priced at approximately $700 and up. When you reach out for your consultation, be sure to ask us about our specials or how you can save money with our patient reward programs.

How long do lip fillers last?

While lip filler treatment is long-lasting, you can expect to return to our Melbourne or Merritt Island, Florida offices again within six to 12 months for another treatment or enhancement to maintain your results.

What are the different types of lip filler?

At our practice, we use FDA-approved products such as Juvéderm Ultra XC, Juvéderm Volbella, Restylane Silk, and Restylane Kysse for our lip filler treatments. These fillers are made of hyaluronic acid (also known as HA), which is a naturally occurring substance in the body.

Is there any permanent way to enhance my lips?

While there are many benefits of lip filler treatment, the downside is that the results are temporary. Our Ivy League-trained Facial Plastic Surgeon Dr. Ross A. Clevens, MD, FACS has performed hundreds of “lip lift” procedures that permanently add volume to the lips. We also offer lip implants as a permanent solution for thinning lips.

How do I know which lip filler is right for me?

When you visit Clevens Face and Body Specialists, our lip filler experts will listen to your goals and help you choose the best lip filler for you, selecting from the wide variety of filler products we offer.

Will my partner feel my lip fillers when we are kissing?

Modern lip filler treatments help us ensure that your beautifully enhanced lips stay soft and natural in texture, so kissing will feel the same and your partner will never know…unless you choose to share your secret.

What happens to my lip filler treatment over time?

Over time, your lip filler will slowly be metabolized naturally by your body. After about six to 12 months, you will notice that your lips have returned to their natural shape and size. To maintain your results, you can visit your provider for an enhancement or another treatment.

What is a 'lip flip' procedure?

A 'lip flip' is a nonsurgical cosmetic procedure that uses injectable relaxers such as BOTOX to soften the muscles around the lip. While the treatment may create the appearance of a fuller upper lip by making more of the lip visible when smiling, more often patients seek out a lip flip to reduce the look of a 'gummy smile'.

A lip flip can be performed in-office in just a few minutes with no recovery or downtime. Not everyone is a candidate for a lip flip, and the procedure yields temporary results that last about three months. For a permanent outcome, patients should consider a lip lift procedure.
