The Benefits of a Body Lift

Body contouring after weight loss gives you the opportunity to shed excess skin folds and enjoy the body shape you worked so hard to achieve. Body contouring can remove sagging skin around the legs, arms, abdomen, and breasts, allowing you to see the full effects of your weight loss efforts.

Say goodbye to rashes, reduced movement, discomfort, and hygiene issues. After your body contouring treatment, you’ll notice a flatter abdomen, a reduction of loose skin, and a slimmer look, thanks to the removal of excess fat and skin that exercise and dieting alone cannot address.

The Details of Your Body Contouring Procedure

Our board-certified breast and body plastic surgery specialists will work closely with you to develop a tailored treatment plan, combining plastic surgery techniques to help you meet your goals. These may include:

Before your surgery begins, our breast and body specialists will discuss relevant details like incision placement, to ensure the most aesthetically pleasing outcome. Because body contouring procedures often combine multiple surgeries, your procedure may take several hours to complete. Your consultation is your chance to address all your concerns and get all your questions answered. We’ll work with you to design a custom treatment plan, talk you through the techniques we’ll be using, and give you detailed information about the aftercare and recovery process. Our goal is to keep you informed and relaxed at every step of the process.

The Highest Standards of Care and Safety

Our specialists perform all surgical procedures alongside an anesthesiologist in a fully accredited Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) that exceeds the most stringent state and national accreditation standards, providing you with the highest level of safety available.

Recovery: Body Contouring After Weight Loss

Most patients are able to walk as soon as they get home, though we recommend taking it easy for about two weeks after your surgery. Despite the complexity of body contouring procedures, you will be able to return to your full routine, including exercise, within six weeks.

Some swelling is expected immediately after surgery, and dressings and compression garments will be applied immediately after the procedure to keep it to a minimum. You may have drains after surgery, which will be removed as soon as drainage stops. Additionally, it is essential to have a friend or family member around to accompany and help you during the days following your treatment.

Your recovery period will vary according to the details of your surgery. A body contouring procedure is a detailed operation that involves multiple techniques tailored to each individual patient. However, while our board-certified breast and body plastic surgery specialists will detail your specific recovery timetable, you can expect to be back to your routine within six weeks.

Body Contouring FAQ

Are there post-surgery responsibilities for the patient?

Is body contouring a weight loss procedure?

Are there post-surgery responsibilities for the patient?

You will be asked to wear a compression garment after your surgery until otherwise instructed by your surgeon. After surgery, you’ll be advised to maintain a stable weight through diet and exercise as best you can, in order to avoid reversing the results of your procedure.

Is body contouring a weight loss procedure?

No. While body contouring can incidentally remove stubborn fat deposits, it is not a procedure used for large-scale weight loss. Indeed, ideal candidates for the surgery are those who have already lost the majority of their weight and are now at a stable weight.
