Why Get a Chin Implant?

If you want a stronger jaw, or additional facial and jawline contouring, facial plastic surgery with a chin or cheek implant can give you a look that creates enhanced proportion between your forehead, nose, and mid-face, improving the overall structural appearance of your face.

Jaw implants (used to increase the width of the lower third of your face), and cheek implants (used to increase the projection of your cheekbones), can also give you a more proportionate, youthful appearance. To learn more about how our facial plastic surgery specialists can help you realize your cosmetic goals, reach out to our Merritt Island or Melbourne, Florida locations and set up your consultation today.

He created Clevens Face and Body Specialists to offer you an elevated level of care, brought to life by a passionate team of over 30 dedicated professionals.

Your inspiring and empowering results will be created with a practitioner who brings extensive experience to the table, alongside a well-developed artistic sensibility.

We understand that facial plastic surgery has the ability to truly change lives, and are committed to creating the life-affirming results that you know you deserve. Whether you’re interested in a subtle enhancement to your look or are interested in walking back the clock by several years, our team is here to offer you the comprehensive care that sees you enjoying incredible results.

What Are Chin Implants Made Of?

Chin implants are made of solid, biocompatible materials and are specially formed to enhance or augment the physical structure of your face. Dr. Ross A. Clevens, and Phillip Barbee, MD, have years of experience helping patients select the right implant type and size, and will work closely with you to design a treatment plan that aligns with your aesthetic aspirations.

The solid silicone implant we offer is designed to last a lifetime, and we take care to only use products that have been proven to be safe, do not reabsorb, and do not leak. These implants are also easily removable, should your personal goals change later in life.

Our facial plastic surgery specialists focus exclusively on this type of surgery, so you can look forward to the kind of results that come from extensive experience, motivated by a keen aesthetic sensibility.

Ideal Candidates for Chin Augmentation

Chin augmentation is very popular because it’s a relatively easy operation for the patient that produces noticeable improvements in the silhouette of the face. Many patients seeking chin augmentation are motivated by feelings of dissatisfaction with the way their profile appears, or in their overall sense of facial harmony.

When you visit Clevens Face and Body Specialists for your consultation, an experienced member of our team will get to know your goals and guide you to the procedure that is right for you and your lifestyle.

The Primary Benefits of Facial Implants

A chin implant is a great way to create an enhanced level of symmetry among your facial features. While all faces are asymmetrical to some degree, Dr. Clevens and Dr. Barbee can work with you to recommend facial implants that will help you achieve the look you desire. Both doctors focus on bringing balance and proportion to your face.

When the chin is weak or undersized, it disturbs facial balance and harmony. A short chin may make a nose appear larger and more conspicuous, an overbite appear more pronounced, or a double chin appear more prominent.

Here's what can a chin implant can do for you:

  • Improve your facial balance and harmony
  • Enhance your facial highlights
  • Improve your facial definition
  • Boost your confidence and self-esteem
  • Empower you to truly live your best life

Adding Facial Definition

Facial implants, including chin, jaw, and cheek implants, can add facial definition and enhance your facial highlights, all while creating an improved sense of balance.

Your chin can become a distinct facial feature, rather than one that disappears into your neck or makes your other features, like your nose or overbite, more pronounced. With cheek implants, you can achieve the prominent cheekbones and strong jawline of which you’ve been dreaming.

Your Consultation Experience

The best way to know whether a chin, jaw, or cheek implant will help you meet your goals is to schedule a consultation and tell your plastic surgery team what you hope to achieve. Dr. Clevens has made it a point to surround himself with a team of top-tier professionals, each one a specialist in their chosen field.

We’ll get to know your goals and design a treatment program that is tailored directly to your aspirations, taking into account your unique facial structure as we create your surgical plan. This will also give us the chance to explain everything there is to know about your upcoming procedure. You’ll talk over incision patterns, the duration of the surgery, and much more.

Finally, you’ll explore financing options, schedule your pre- and post-operative appointments, and get to know our support staff, who will be available to you at every stage of your journey with us. We tend to think of our patients like family, and we’ll remain available to you throughout your recovery process, so you can feel comfortable and fully supported at all times.

Combining Your Procedures

Many patients who come to us interested in a procedure like rhinoplasty are surprised to learn that their chin plays an important role in the overall balance of their facial appearance. A recessed chin, for example, can exaggerate nasal imperfections, making a normal-sized nose sometimes seem larger.

This can easily be corrected with the placement of a chin implant, and these procedures are often performed together for a significantly enhanced outcome. Speak with your surgeon if you’re interested in exploring the benefits that can come along with these additional procedures:

  • Rhinoplasty
  • Facelift
  • Our Signature Laser-Assisted Weekend Neck Lift

The Day Of Your
Chin Augmentation Procedure

Dr. Clevens and Dr. Barbee insist upon the highest level of safety possible, and facial implant surgery is typically performed in our state-of-the-art offices in Merritt Island or Melbourne, Florida. If you’re combining chin augmentation with another procedure, such as rhinoplasty, as is common, your surgeon will opt to perform the treatments in a fully accredited Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) that exceeds the most stringent state and national accreditation standards.

The incisions made during a facial implant procedure are placed on the inside of the mouth or under the chin, to avoid the presence of visible incision lines. Facial implants can generally be placed in less than one hour, though your surgery may take longer if this is performed in combination with other treatments. Before your procedure, your surgeon will help you understand exactly what you can expect from the experience.

Recovery After Chin Augmentation Surgery

You’ll be able to head home immediately after your surgery, though you’ll need a friend to drive you as your anesthesia wears off. Complications from chin implants are very uncommon and most patients return to everyday activities within a week.

To promote healing, you’ll need to sleep with your face up and your head elevated for the first week or two after surgery. You’ll get the full sense of your long-term results after the swelling subsides completely, within a month or two.

At Clevens Face and Body Specialists, we take an exceptionally patient-centric approach to our work. We’ll be with you at every step of your cosmetic journey, and this includes scheduling follow-up appointments to help guide your healing process.

Enjoying Your Impressive Results

Many patients wonder how long their facial implant will last. Modern chin implants are typically made of a solid material that will be contoured to fit precisely over your bone. The great news is that a solid silicone implant can last a lifetime. Solid silicone does not reabsorb and again, because it is solid, there is no concern with leaking.

Chin augmentation is intended to be a long-lasting solution, but your implant can easily be removed if you so desire. If you are interested in learning more about how chin augmentation and facial implants can help markedly improve your sense of facial harmony, reach out to us at our Melbourne, FL, or Merritt Island offices and set up your consultation today.

What Our Patients Say

Hear from one of our happy chin implant patients, and let your surgeon know if you would like to speak with another patient who has undergone a similar procedure.

“I have been told throughout my life, by many doctors, that a chin implant would fix what I hated most about my looks. I never felt quite ready or prepared to go through the surgery until I met Dr. Clevens...He also has done many procedures for men before and has great results and reviews...I have never felt or looked better.” –jeremiahbrennan1, review on RealSelf
