A recent study of more than one million surgeries concluded the more procedures surgeons have performed, the better their patients’ outcomes. Think of anything you’ve personally tried to master, from playing a musical instrument or learning a sport to speaking a foreign language.

If you were successful, developing the new skill likely took both time and repetition — even if you had some “natural talent” when you started. The same is true with facial plastic surgery: practice makes perfect. And as a practitioner, I’m always striving for perfection. But why does experience matter so much?
