Why Get a Chin Implant?

If you want a stronger jaw, or additional facial and jawline contouring, facial plastic surgery with a chin implant can give you a chin that projects in proportion with your forehead, nose, and mid-face, improving the overall structural appearance of your face. Jaw implants, used to increase the width of the lower third of your face, and cheek implants, used to increase the projection of your cheekbones, can also give you a more proportional, youthful appearance.

Chin implants are made of solid, biocompatible materials and specially formed to enhance or augment the physical structure of your face. Ross A. Clevens, MD, FACS, and Renata Khelemsky, MD, have years of experience helping patients select the right type and size of implant. The procedure is often performed in conjunction with rhinoplasty, facelift, and Clevens Face and Body Specialists' signature Laser-Assisted Weekend Neck Lift to dramatically improve facial harmony.

Chin Implant Benefits

Results that last a lifetime (but are easily removable, too)

Get the beautiful facial structure you want while creating a youthful appearance, too. Facial implants, including chin, jaw, and cheek implants, can help you add facial definition and enhance facial highlights, all while creating balance. Your chin can become a distinct facial feature, rather than one that disappears into your neck or makes your other features, like your nose or overbite, more pronounced. And you can get the prominent cheekbones and strong jawline you want.

Your solid silicone implant is designed to last a lifetime. It is proven to be safe, does not reabsorb, and does not leak. But, rest assured, these implants are easily removable if your goals change later in life.

Chin Implant Procedure

A fast, safe way to add definition to your face.

Dr. Clevens and Dr. Khelemsky provide you the highest level of safety available. Facial implant surgery is typically performed in our state-of-the-art office. If you’re combining with another procedure, such as rhinoplasty, as is common, your surgeon will opt to perform the treatments in a fully accredited Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) that exceeds the most stringent state and national accreditation standards.

Incisions made for facial implants are on the inside of the mouth or under the chin, so any scars are not visible. Facial implants can generally be placed in less than one hour, though your surgery may take longer if done in combination with other treatments.

Chin Implant Recovery

Go home immediately after surgery.

Complications from chin implants are very uncommon and most patients return to everyday activities within a week. To promote healing, you’ll need to sleep with your face up and your head elevated for the first week or two after surgery. You’ll get the full sense of your long-term results after fullness completely subsides, within a month or two.

If you ever want to remove your chin implant, it can be removed in 10 to 15 minutes under local anesthesia.

How long does a chin implant last?

If you are interested in a Facial Implant in Melbourne, Florida then call the Clevens Face and Body Specialists to learn all about this procedure and how it can improve your facial harmony. Many patients wonder how long a facial implant, such as a chin implant, would last. Chin Implants these days are typically made of solid silastic material contoured to fit precisely over the bone. The great new is that a solid silicone implant can last a lifetime. Solid silicone does not reabsorb and again, because it is solid, there is no concern with it leaking. They are intended to be long-lasting but can be easily removed if desired.

Chin augmentation is very popular because it’s a relatively easy operation for the patient while producing noticeable changes in the silhouette of the face. Many patients seeking chin augmentation are motivated when they just happen to see a picture, which caught them in profile. When the chin is weak or undersized, it disturbs facial balance and harmony. A short chin may make a nose appear larger and more conspicuous, an overbite appear more pronounced or a double chin appear worse. Dr. Clevens is able to improve facial balance and harmony through placement of a chin implant.

Chin implant and nose job to change my profile. Is this realistic?

Many patients seeking rhinoplasty may be surprised to learn that their chin plays an important role in the overall balance of your facial appearance. It gives you an advantage that you are already aware of how important this facial harmony is. People usually only look at themselves from the front, and it is only when they catch themselves in profile that they might realize they have a weak chin. A recessed chin exaggerates nasal imperfections, making even a normal sized nose seem larger, and is easily corrected with the placement of a chin implant. These procedures are often performed together and greatly enhance one another .

What Our Patients Say

Hear from one of our chin implant patients.

“I have been told throughout my life, by many doctors, that a chin implant would fix what I hated most about my looks. I never felt quite ready or prepared to go through the surgery until I met Dr. Clevens...He also has done many procedures for men before and has great results and reviews...I have never felt or looked better.” –jeremiahbrennan1, review on RealSelf
