Why a Breast Lift?

Give your breasts a more youthful look.

Once skin has sagged, the only way to correct it is with surgery. A breast lift can improve sagging or misshapen breasts, restoring a more youthful look. A breast lift also gives you the ability to change the shape and location of your nipples.

Do I Need a Breast Lift?

An aesthetic surgery for added lift.

If you’re displeased with your breasts because of weight loss, pregnancy, nursing, aging, or genetics, you may find a breast lift gives you just enough lift to feel good about your breasts again. A breast lift does not require implants, but some women prefer to complement a breast lift with breast augmentation to further enhance the natural appearance of youthful breasts.

Watch as Amy Simon, MD, FACS explains the difference between a breast lift and breast augmentation.

Breast Lift Benefits

Improve the appearance and shape of your breasts.

A breast lift offers needed support to breasts that have sagged or lost firmness. A breast lift also allows you to improve breast symmetry or make the areola and nipple appear higher.

The best way to know if you’ll achieve the outcome you want from a breast lift or any procedure is to discuss your specific goals with Dr. Simon and her team of experts. She will walk you through all of your options during your consultation and help you decide which is best for you, based on your goals and level of sagging.

Breast Lift Procedure

Finding the breast lift technique that is right for you.

There are numerous techniques for breast lift surgery. As the first plastic surgeon to bring the SPAIR short-scar breast surgery technique to the Southeastern U.S., Dr. Simon learned the method during a fellowship with the surgeon who created it. SPAIR results in a shorter incision and better, more rounded shape. Dr. Simon will use this technique whenever possible.

For every procedure, Dr. Simon will remove any excess skin and place the nipple higher up on the breast to create a more youthful appearance. Sutures may be placed in the deep tissue to offer more support. To provide you with the highest levels of safety, all breast lifts are performed by Dr. Simon, while accompanied by an anesthesiologist, in state-licensed, nationally accredited Ambulatory Surgery Centers that exceed the most stringent state and national accreditation standards.

Breast Lift Recovery

Return home on the same day as the surgery.

You’ll be placed in an ace wrap after the procedure to support your breasts and tissues as healing begins. Your new natural breast shape becomes more visible over the next few weeks as post-surgery fullness subsides.

Home recovery is needed for around three to four days, and patients typically resume most activities, including desk work, after a long weekend. After the healing process is complete, around six weeks, you can resume physical activities and heavy lifting.

BREAST LIFT FAQ

How long will the results of the breast lift last?

Modern techniques mean women can enjoy long-lasting results after a breast lift. However, while future aging and sagging cannot be prevented by a lift, maintaining a stable weight and healthy lifestyle can help prolong the results of the surgery.

Will the lift make my breast smaller?

No. Your breasts will be the same size, just reshaped.

Should I wait until I finish losing weight before getting a breast lift?

A breast lift is not a weight loss procedure and patients should be at a stable weight. It is understandable that you will want to get the lift as soon as possible once you have lost a lot of weight. However, if you have not finished your weight loss goals, it is better to wait to have your breast lift so the results are not compromised by further weight loss.

Are there non-surgical alternatives?

While numerous creams and other products claim to be able to lift breasts or make skin tighter and raised, this is not true. Unfortunately, once skin has sagged, the only way to solve the problem is surgery.

Will I always have scars?

Yes. As unfortunate as it seems, scars will never entirely go away. For many patients though, the scars become so unobtrusive that they are next to invisible, and post-operative scar management can aid in achieving the least scarring possible. Dr. Simon will discuss scar placement with you during your consultation and always places incisions as inconspicuously as possible.

What Our Patients Say

Hear from one of our breast lift patients.

“Amazing results! I asked Dr. Simon, as she was marking my breasts prior to surgery, if I would look like I did when I was 16. I think I look better! She listens and has a great staff. I recommend her to family and friends.”
