What is Lip Filler?

Get voluptuous lips you'll love.

One of our most popular nonsurgical cosmetic treatments that instantly makes patients feel more beautiful is lip filler. This injectable treatment plumps the lips for a fuller look, and can be performed differently to achieve each patient’s unique goals for a more subtle or more dramatic result.

Our Facial Plastic Surgeons Ross A. Clevens, MD, FACS and Renata Khelemsky, MD are master injectors who are experts with the artistry of lip filler technique and are known for helping patients achieve gorgeous results that look very natural.

In this video, Dr. Clevens discusses how nonsurgical treatments such as Juvederm Volbella and Restylane Kysse can improve the look of your lips.

Is Lip Filler Right for You?

Enhance the fullness of your lips, and much more.

You might be a candidate for nonsurgical lip injections if you have always wanted to enhance your lips so they appear fuller. Lip augmentation using dermal fillers also can improve the symmetry of your lips for a more balanced appearance whether you are smiling or your face is at rest.

To achieve a more youthful appearance, our lip filler experts also can use cosmetic injectables to diminish lines and wrinkles around the mouth, while plumping and restoring fullness to lips that have become thinner over time. Lip filler is the perfect nonsurgical solution for patients who have noticed their lips are thinning due to aging, smoking, or genetics.

Alternatives to lip filler to achieve more fullness in your lips include lip implants and lip lift surgery.

Benefits of Lip Injections

Fuller, more youthful lips in just minutes.

Lip enhancement using injectable fillers such as Juvederm Volbella or Restylane Kysse has many benefits for patients. First, you can achieve fuller, more youthful lips and restore the beauty and volume of your lips for a more voluptuous look. While our Facial Plastic Surgery Specialists are plumping your lips, they can also address lines and wrinkles around the mouth or correct asymmetry at the same time.

The procedure is performed in our Melbourne and Merritt Island, Florida offices and takes just minutes. Results are immediate, and patients can even reapply makeup and lipstick right after having their procedure.

Lip Filler Procedure

Quick treatment. Immediate results.

Getting the results you want from lip filler treatment begins with the conversation you have with your injector during your cosmetic consultation. Be sure you have a clear goal in mind. Share with your provider any photos of celebrities whose lips you find attractive if you’re looking for a similar result. If you are having lip injections for the first time, your provider can take a more conservative approach, adding filler a little at a time so you can see the results and advise if you’d like your lips even fuller.

Many patients are concerned about having a natural look after lip filler. A skilled, experienced Facial Plastic Surgeon with extensive knowledge of facial anatomy, such as Dr. Clevens or Dr. Khelemsky, can help you enhance your lips with filler while still achieving a natural-looking appearance.

Watch as Dr. Clevens explains how to get natural-looking lips with injectable lip fillers.

Lip Filler Recovery

Get gorgeous full lips, and be on your way!

Our Master Injectors perform lip injections in-office. Lip fillers are typically made with hyaluronic acid, a substance occurs naturally in our body. At our practice in Brevard County, Fla., we use only FDA-approved products that are proven safe and effective for lip augmentation, including the popular brands Juvederm Ultra XC, Juvederm Volbella, Restylane Silk, and Restylane Kysse. Your provider will work with you to choose the best type of lip filler to achieve your cosmetic goals.

The procedure itself takes just minutes to perform. Some injectors, such as our Facial Plastic Surgeon Renata Khelemsky, MD, use a cannula during a lip filler treatment. This technique helps to minimize discomfort during the procedure as well as any bruising afterward. Experiencing some bruising and swelling following treatment is normal and typically subsides in a few days. Less common side effects include redness, mild pain, lumps, and itching.

Following treatment, we provide an ice pack to help soothe the treated area. At our practice, it’s customary for us to meet with patients in follow-up about two weeks after lip filler treatment to make sure you are completely happy and perform any touch-up needed.

Learn more about how soon you will see the results from your lip filler treatment in this video featuring Ross A. Clevens, MD, FACS.

Injectable Lip Fillers FAQ

How much do lip injections cost?

Lip injections vary in cost based on the education, training, and experience of your provider, as well as the amount of filler used while performing your treatment. We offer complimentary consultations for patients to learn more, and we provide a quote based on your customized treatment plan. Generally, most lip filler treatments start around $695. Ask about our specials or how you can save money with patient reward programs.

How long do lip fillers last?

While lip filler treatment is long-lasting, you can expect to return to our Melbourne or Merritt Island, Florida offices again within six to 12 months for another treatment or touch-up to maintain your result.

What are the different types of lip filler?

At our practice, we use FDA-approved products such as Juvederm Ultra XC, Juvederm Volbella, Restylane Silk, and Restylane Kysse for our lip injection treatments. These fillers are made of HA, hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally occurring substance in the body.

Is there any permanent way to enhance my lips?

While there are many benefits of lip filler treatment, the downside is that the results are temporary. Our Facial Plastic Surgeon Ross A. Clevens, MD, FACS has performed hundreds of “lip lift” procedures that add volume to the lips permanently. We also offer lip implants as a permanent solution for thinning lips.

What is recovery like after lip filler?

After lip filler treatment, you may experience some mild swelling or bruising, but you will have no restrictions and can resume your ordinary activities immediately with no downtime.

How do I know which lip filler is right for me?

The great part about seeing an experienced Facial Plastic Surgeon is you have access to their expertise with lip augmentation, so you don’t have to figure that out. Our lip filler experts will listen to your goals and choose the best lip filler for you.

Will my partner feel my lip fillers when we are kissing?

Modern lip injections ensure your beautifully enhanced lips stay soft and natural in texture, so kissing will feel the same and your partner will never know – unless you choose to share your secret.

What happens to my lip filler treatment over time?
Over time, your lip filler is slowly metabolized naturally by your body. After about six to 12 months, you will notice that your lips return to their natural shape and size. To maintain your result, you can visit your provider for a touch-up or another treatment.
