With nearly 20 years of experience, Dr. Rian Maercks is a board certified, double-fellowship trained plastic surgeon with a unique combination of specialized expertise in cosmetic breast and body procedures. After completing medical school at Duke University, Dr. Maercks completed a six-year residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Cincinnati Hospital, where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Maercks then completed two fellowships in aesthetic surgery and additional advanced training with some of the most prominent plastic surgeons across Europe and South America.
Prior to starting medical school, Dr. Maercks completed undergraduate work at the University of Florida and Lancaster University in England where he studied Fine Arts and Philosophy, providing the foundation for his unique approach to the artistry of cosmetic plastic surgery. Dr. Maercks has been recognized by the International Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery for his innovations. Combining art, aesthetic sensibilities, and his extensive knowledge of anatomy, Dr. Maercks developed Cold-SubFascial Breast Augmentation©, a novel technique providing supported, long-term control of breast shape and appearance, and considered to help patients achieve the most natural-looking outcomes.
Dr. Maercks is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He has served as an invited lecturer at plastic surgery meetings around the world and authored chapters for textbooks about surgical technique. Dr. Maercks has been published in the internationally recognized journal Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and is a sought-after speaker and contributor to magazines, radio, and TV news programs.
