Patrick McCleary, MD Fellow, Facial Plastic Surgery

Dr. Sean Patrick McCleary joins Clevens Face and Body Specialists as the 2026–2027 Facial Plastic Surgery Fellow, bringing with him a unique combination of surgical excellence, academic achievement, humanitarian service, and artistic perspective. With extensive training in general surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery research, and facial aesthetics, Dr. McCleary has developed a strong foundation in both functional and cosmetic facial surgery, with particular expertise in rhinoplasty, facial anatomy, and nasal reconstruction.

At Clevens Face and Body Specialists, Dr. McCleary is advancing his proficiency in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery under the mentorship of Ross A. Clevens, MD, FACS and Phillip Barbee, MD, while providing compassionate, patient-centered care. He is committed to supporting patients throughout every phase of the surgical experience, from initial consultation and pre-operative planning through recovery and follow-up care. His clinical interests include aesthetic facial plastic surgery, advanced laser and skin rejuvenation treatments, and comprehensive skin cancer management, including facial reconstruction after Mohs surgery.

Education, Surgical Training & Research

Dr. McCleary earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Louisiana State University before completing a Master of Science in Biomedical Science at Mississippi College. He went on to receive his Doctor of Medicine degree from University of Mississippi School of Medicine, where he was inducted into the prestigious Gold Humanism Honor Society and honored with the Military Medical Student Award.

Dr. McCleary completed his surgical internship at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center before continuing his general surgery residency training at Harbor–UCLA Medical Center and later at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, where he served as a chief resident. Alongside his clinical training, he pursued advanced research fellowships within the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center under the mentorship of nationally recognized leaders in aesthetic and reconstructive surgery.

Research, Innovation & Mentorship

Throughout his career, Dr. McCleary has cultivated a deep academic interest in facial aesthetics and cervicomental rejuvenation targeting the deep structures of the neck. His research has focused on nasal reconstruction, dorsal preservation rhinoplasty, facial aging anatomy, and aesthetic surgical outcomes. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in leading journals including Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Aesthetic Surgery Journal, and Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery. His work has also been presented nationally at major surgical meetings, where he received recognition for outstanding scientific presentations and innovation in craniofacial research.

In addition to his academic accomplishments, Dr. McCleary is passionate about education and mentorship. As an instructor of surgical anatomy at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, he taught medical students advanced anatomy and surgical technique, earning a 2026 Golden Apple nomination for excellence in teaching.

Service, Global Perspective & Life Beyond Medicine

Dr. McCleary’s commitment to service extends well beyond the operating room. A former United States Navy officer and recipient of the Navy Health Professions Scholarship, he has participated in humanitarian and public health initiatives throughout Colombia, Uganda, Peru, and underserved communities across the United States. Fluent in Spanish, he has dedicated years to mentoring children, coordinating medical outreach programs, and advocating for vulnerable populations. Outside of medicine, Dr. McCleary enjoys international travel, surfing, photography, painting, gardening, and outdoor adventure. Having visited more than 50 countries across six continents, he brings a broad cultural perspective and genuine appreciation for the individuality of every patient he serves.
