Dr. Ross Clevens is known throughout Brevard for his humanitarian efforts and this Christmas season, he is working with an organization called Face to Face to help women who have been in domestic abuse situations.

While many of us will be wrapping presents and preparing dinner on Christmas Eve, Dr. Clevens will be working with a woman who had been in an abusive relationship for years, which resulted in damage to her face especially her nose.

The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Foundation is the first surgical group to take a firm stand and become involved in assisting individuals of domestic violence break the cycle of violence, enhance their self-esteem and rebuild their lives. Many victims of domestic violence receive facial injuries and are not financially able to have these injuries adequately repaired.

The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence reported that one in every four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime. As a way to encourage and assist women in domestic violence situations, Face to Face pairs victims with facial plastic surgeons to consult with these individuals and decide if facial cosmetic surgery is best for them.

The AAFPRS Foundation selected Dr. Clevens to work with Face to Face because of his medical expertise and his Ivy League education. Dr. Clevens will be working with this woman do help her move forward and give her the opportunity to regain her confidence.
